Kyles Coastal Rowing Club located in the beautiful Kyles of Bute on the Argyll Secret Coast, was formed in autumn 2012 and we launched our first St Ayles Skiff in June 2013 - just in time for the Fife Regatta visiting the Kyles of Bute.
We built the boats ourselves from a kit. The kit is a little more challenging than an Airfix kit, but we managed it as a bunch of amateurs. Our first boat is called Archie Smith after one of Tighnabruaich’s great characters from a local boat-building background.
We now have 3 boats, 2 St Ayles Skiffs and one Picnic Class, Archie Smith, Auchenlochen and Wee Archie.
We are members of the Scottish Coastal Rowing Association which was formed on the 9th May 2010 to encourage boat building and rowing and racing of coastal rowing boats around the Scottish coastline.
The club promotes light-hearted rowing for fun and for racing. Members can enjoy the exercise and amazing scenery or train to race. To try rowing you do not need any special skills and it suits all fitness levels.
To join just contact us and we will be glad to have you on-board.

Many folk have helped get the club off the ground both financially and effort. We thank all those members and locals with a special thanks to Keith Turner for the boat building shed, the Peir association for our winter home.
